Charles Ciraulo - What Is The Animal Welfare Institute?
Animal abuse and neglect is a serious problem in the United States; not only with individual owners but commercially as well. There are organizations in the US that are designed to help animals that have been abused and some that seek to prevent and eventually eliminate it. The Animal Welfare Institute is one of these organizations. They have support from some citizens, like Charles Ciraulo.
The Animal Welfare Institute is a non-profit charitable organization found in the United States. They seek to reduce the far and pain imposed on animals by human beings. They were founded in 1951 and use their legal division, the Society for Animal Protective Legislation, to encourage the passage of laws that align with their purpose.
During their early years, the AWI’s main focus was on animal experimentation. However, they extended their goals to address other areas of animal rights issues in the following decades. Over the years they have raised awareness about stopping steel-jaw leghold traps used for catching fur-bearing animals, factory farms, improving the conditions for lab animals, and promoting non-animal testing methods.
They attend meetings of the Convention on International Trade in Endangered Species of Wild Fauna and Flora and the International Whaling Commission to fight for animals’ rights around the world. In the fall of 2006 the AWI launched the Animal Welfare Approved standards program. Only family farms can earn their seal.
Charles Ciraulo learned about the AWI through his interest in animal rights. He is also involved with several other causes involved with animals both wild and domestic.

Charles Ciraulo - What is DNA?
Many children learn about what DNA is, what it’s made of and where it is found when they are in school. But for many adults, they forget the details about DNA and only remember it as the stuff that makes you, well you. DNA is a complex molecule. This will break down what DNA is in simpler terms, so you don’t need a dictionary or science textbook to better understand deoxyribonucleic acid. Charles Ciraulo is one of the many people that finds DNA and all the things it involves very interesting.
Deoxyribonucleic acid or DNA for short is the molecule that holds the genetic code for organisms. All animals, protists, plants, bacteria and archaea have DNA. It is found within each cell of the organism and instructs each cell to make necessary proteins, called enzymes.
Many people may be familiar with the shape of DNA, the double helix, which is a ladder twisted into a spiral. Each rung of the ladder is made of molecules called nucleotides. These molecules are made of deoxyribose, which is a sugar, a group of phosphates containing phosphorus and oxygen, and a nitrogenous base.
There are four types of nucleotides that make up DNA: Adenine (A), Thymine (T), Cytosine (C), Guanine (G). Each of these base nucleotides connect with others to make up the rungs of the ladder and are held together with hydrogen bonds. But not all of them can connect with the others. A can only pair with T and C only pairs with G.
Charles Ciraulo enjoys learning about DNA.
Charles Ciraulo - Common Fitness Terminology
Many people can get overwhelmed when they choose to start exercising. With so many types of work out routines and all the terms used, it’s like learning a new language. Maximum heart rate: This is the highest hate that your heart can be at safely for exercise. It is usually based on your age but fitness level can also play a part in determining your target rate. Typically, this number can be found by subtracting your age from 220. It is recommended that you keep your heart rate within 55 to 85 percent of your max for at least 20 minutes to get the best result of your exercise.
Warm up: This is the activity you do to prepare your body for the stress of exercise. It is recommended that you always warm up before exercise so your muscles and joints are prepared for the work out. Stretching is usually included in most warm up routines.
Cool down: This is sort of the reverse of the warm up. This activity is done after the most intense part of your work out to help your body calm down after the exercise. Stretching is a recommended part of many cool down routines.
Repetition (rep): this refers to the amount of times to repeat an exercise during a set. For example, many weight lifters will perform 10 reps of the same muscle curl to have the exercise be most effective.
Charles Ciraulo works out often to maintain a healthy and fit lifestyle.
Three Ways Things to Consider When Raising a Large Family
Raising a large family is a challenge, often because of the amount of children that you are responsible for. There will be days where three of your kids need to be at three different places at the same time. This often poses a problem, especially when you consider that you still have two other kids at home who need to eat dinner. Organization and delegation are the keys to running a large household. Here are three tips that will help you keep your large family organized.
- Try your best to keep the clutter to a minimum. You already have a lot of people in your house, so the amount of belongings scattered around your home is going to end up as a large amount. It's easy to keep hold of old toys, clothes, and other items that belonged to your kids, as well as those that have sentimental value to you but that aren't used by them anymore. These are the items you need to donate fast, which helps to ensure that you maintain space in your home and minimize clutter.
- Make time for you and your significant other. It’s so easy to get caught up in the life of your children in a way that you end up bypassing one another. Go grocery shopping together, or set an hour at the end of every day where you spend some time with each other.
- Set some time aside for yourself. Do not neglect yourself and your need for privacy and alone time. You know your limits, so when you start feeling overwhelmed, start focusing on yourself for a bit. This is not selfish, and is necessary for your health. Set aside time to watch a little TV, to work out, or do whatever hobby you are interested in.
Charles Ciraulo is the father of five children and understands the challenges of raising a large family.
Three Tips for Getting Into Shape and Maximizing Your Workouts
Working out doesn't need to be a task. Rather, it should be something you enjoy doing, simply because it makes you feel good both mentally and physically. If you haven't worked out in a while, it's difficult to get back into the rhythm of working out and you will feel more resistance from your body. After a while, though, you will notice a difference in your body. Here are three ways that will maximize your workout efforts.

- Be cognizant of what you are eating both before and after a workout. Your body needs fuel before a workout, and fruits or snacks with lots of fibers are great sources. After a workout, eat some proteins so that your carbs break down easier. Crackers with low-fat cheese, trail mix, and peanut butter and jelly sandwiches are the best after workouts.
- When doing crunches, make sure that your abdominal muscles are tense the entire time, including when you are moving away from your knees. You get firm abs by keeping your abs tense the entire time. If you they aren’t tense the entire time, you are only benefitting from half of the workout.
- Over the weekend, go on some outdoor adventures like canoeing, hiking or kayaking. Kayaking is a phenomenal abdominal muscle workout, as is canoeing. Hiking is a great way to build length strength and muscle endurance. It is a phenomenal cardiovascular exercise especially if you are going uphill and at high altitudes.
Charles Ciraulo is a workout enthusiast. He regularly exercises because his health and fitness are very important to him.
Three Cheats and Tricks That Will Make Your Meals More Healthy
Cooking healthy meals is easy, doesn’t reduce the taste of your meals, and won’t cost you any more money than you are already spending. Cooking healthy meals is all about developing good habits and understanding of what kinds of foods to use and not use, as well as what boosters and substitutes are healthy and unhealthy. Here are three simple tricks and cheats that will help you make healthier meals for you and your family.

Instead of using an entire egg, only use the egg whites. Egg whites have zero grams of fat and only 16 calories; whereas the yolk of an egg alone has 54 calories and five grams of fat. If a recipe calls for the use of one egg, substitute it with two eggs where you only use the whites. This is a small but easy to way to make your meal more healthy.
You can make your ground meat dishes healthier by adding brown rice, diced vegetables, or bulgur to meatloaf or burgers. Adding whole grains to your ground meat dishes will increase the size of your portions, and make your meal more balanced. Adding peppers, onions, or mushrooms to your burgers will also bulk up the portions and increase your daily portion of vegetables or whole grains. This is an easy way to make good food in a healthier manner.
Cheese is one of the most difficult types of food to reduce or eliminate from your dishes. There is no substitute for the flavor of cheese so you cannot completely remove it from your favorite dish. What you can do though is use less cheese, but use cheese that have bolder flavors like sharp cheddar, Parmigiano, or goat cheese. This way you still keep the cheese flavor you crave, but you eliminate the amount of cheese you use therefore reducing your fat and calorie intake.
Charles Ciraulo is enjoys cooking healthy meals for himself and his five children. He is a very health conscious individual who eats correctly and works out regularly.
Three Simple Ways That You Can Contribute to Your Local Animal Rescue and Shelter
Local animal shelters and rescue centers both rely and thrive on the generosity of the community. They are usually underfunded, and need all the help that they can get to help to make sure pets are healthy and ready for adoption. Helping your local animal rescue center and shelter doesn’t need to cost you any money, or even to take up much of your time. Here are three ways that you can help your local animal rescue center and shelter.
- Shelters and rescue centers are often always in need of supplies. Toys are always welcome, but other items such as towels are always useful for the staff and the animals at the shelter. If you have extra towels, yarn, clothes or and other material, don't hesitate to donate it. If you think that the shelter could use something that you are looking to donate but aren't 100% sure, bring it to the center regardless.
- It's a lot to ask people to adopt a pet, and if you would like to make a more meaningful contribution, but can't donate, then volunteering is the next best thing. You can volunteer your time and walk the dogs, or provide your handy carpentering or electrical skills to the local center.
- Lastly, if there is something about your local animal rescue center and shelter that concerns you, contact them and let them know about your concerns. Local shelters and rescue centers are always looking for ways to improve. After all, they aren’t serving themselves; they are serving the community and the animals who need their help.
Charles Ciraulo is an animal lover who cares about and advocates for animal rescue and shelter centers, as well as all other animal welfare institutions.
